Workplace Communication: From Singlish to Standard English

Introduction
English is recognised as the primary language in our daily communication. However, many of us failed to recognise that we are using a lot of Singlish in our communication with colleagues, customers and foreign delegates. The rampant usage of Singlish may unwittingly give unclear or wrong information to the listener and create a negative image of us and our organisation.

In this one-day course, you will practice standard English in a fun way through interactive group work and hands-on tasks. There will be case practice to reinforce the use of standard English and videos to differentiate between Singlish and standard English.

After this course, learners will be able to communicate in standard English and create a positive image for themselves and their organisation.

Objectives
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- replace Singlish with the use of standard English for effective communication
- improve proficiency in the English language
- project a professional image in communication with colleagues and customers
- communicate in standard English that is understood by all
