Ovum would like to invite you to our forthcoming event on July 7, at which we will be discussing the role of Unified Communication (UC) in the Telco 2.0 environment. As part of the transformation process to a more software-driven services provider, telcos are at the beginning of a significant turning point in their strategies. Their core network asset will play a broader role than simply connectivity services. It will be a delivery platform for convergent ICT services and UC will be an important application. Ovum will discuss the challenges and opportunities telcos will face while they step out of the commodity business and offer more value added ICT services, what CIOs think about these new propositions, and the technologies will help telcos with their strategies. Furthermore, a large portion of employees in the enterprise environment currently spend at least some of their time out of the office. It is fair to expect that most of the benefits proposed by the UC solutions will be achieved through the mobile networks. However, mobility is still a missing link in the UC today and telcos are the best placed to add mobility and extend the enterprise services beyond the office, providing UC also to the mobile warriors. What are the special requirements of mobile users and how telcos will address them? Five years ago, the industry said telcos had to move from the network model to the service model. Now, that telcos are moving, how they will differentiate themselves from the software providers in the enterprise market? What major players are doing to prepare themselves for this new scenario?
