The POD, Level 16
National Library Building

There are plenty of myths and legends surrounding the founding of Temasek, as Singapore was once known. With archaeological evidences linking the island’s past as far back as the 13th century, historians and archaeologists explore the possibilities of Temasek being part of the Srivijayan and Majapahit empires. Singapore’s unique geographical location and setting as an entrepot the myth and legend of it’s founding.
“Mad about Singapore Urban Legends” is our approach to understand Singapore’s history by way of its myths and legends. More importantly, how significant is the story of Temasek to the younger generation and do we still remember the story of Singapore being attacked by the swordfish?
