Join Mr Luke Lim, the founder and CEO of A. S. Louken, a Singapore-based retail consultancy that provides branding, franchising, design and other advisory services, as he shares his insights on branding and illustrates his thoughts with two interesting case studies.

Talk Name : Corporate Identity and Reputation Management
Summary : The key discussion in this talk is about how corporate identity, image and reputation determine the success or failure of any organisation in both private and public sectors. Another focus is the notion of image versus that of identity, which is defined as a mirror image of the organisation's reality and identity as physical manifestations of that image. The two speakers are Ms K. Bhavani (President, Institute of Public Relations of Singapore & Director of Corporate Communications & Press Secretary to the Minister, Ministry of Information, Communications & the Arts) and Mr Jimmy Tay (Chief Executive (Southeast Asia), Hill & Knowlton & Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Arts and Social Sciences, SIM University).

Talk Name : One Newspaper, Two Countries: The influence of Lianhe Zaobao in China
Summary : Lianhe Zaobao has gained tremendous popularity in China and become influential in a country that is 16,000 times larger and 325 times more populous than Singapore. More remarkably, it has become a must-read for the power and intellectual elite in this emerging power. Even Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao declared himself “a faithful Lianhe Zaobao reader”. Hear Mr Lim Jim Koon, editor of Lianhe Zaobao, speak about how this unique and unprecedented phenomenon in the history of modern media come about and how much longer can it last. Mr Lim joined the Chinese-language daily Sin Chew Jit Poh, the predecessor of Lianhe Zaobao, in 1977, and has risen through the ranks of translator, foreign editor, local news editor, executive editor and associate editor to become the editor of Zaobao in 1995. He has served as board members of several statutory boards and is also an adjunct professor of SIM University.

Summary : What drove an energetic youth to tread on the path less taken at the tender age of 17 when the aerospace engineering domain then promised a future as uncertain as how much fuel will cost tomorrow? This is a rare opportunity to hear about the odyssey of Col (NS) Khoo Beng Keat, a man who listened to his heart, rode the waves of passion for science and technology and then bravely upsized the challenges of life to show the world that the sky is indeed the limit as an entrepreneur. Col Khoo has held key senior positions in the RSAF, and is now serving as the Executive Director in MAJ Aviation Pte Ltd.
