Effective Workplace Communication
Introduction
If your workplace is becoming challenging because people seem 'petty' about issues on dealing and relating with each other, this might just be the workshop for you.
Understand how mastering the art of communication can be your competitive advantage. You will explore and learn how 'petty' matters may affect what you love at your work just like how a tiny stone in the shoe can affect a runner's performance.
Objectives
After the two-day workshop, participants will be able to:

identify 4 communication styles; strengths and weaknesses
communicate effectively with people of different communication styles
create the 'zone' for effective communication
use the appropriate communication tool in the workplace
manage a 'gossip moment' without getting into trouble
deal with difficult conversations confidently

Understand and appreciate the purpose and value of communication
- What is effective communication?
- Factors that influence good communication at the workplace (self, surrounding, tools/equipment)
Identify 4 communication styles; their strengths and weaknesses
- Communication starts with me
- Dealing with different communication styles
Communicate effectively with people of different communication styles
- Develop a personalised adaptive communication strategy
Creating the 'zone' for effective communication
- Mood and space
- Ensuring you understand the other person
- Conversation framework (purpose, content, summarise)
Use the appropriate communication tool in the workplace
- Identify the right audience
- Determine the best tool to fit the purpose
- Exploring the various tools (e.g. facebook, msn, posters, e-mails, post-it)
Manage a 'gossip moment' without getting into trouble
- Understand the meaning behing the 'story'
- Empathise with the grievance
- Elevate the person
Deal with difficult conversations confidently
- Identify the emotional state
- Confirm the demonstrated negative behaviour
- Move towards an objective solution
Methodology
A behavioural self-assessment tool for each participant, short lectures, group discussions, role play, video and case studies.
